STN can receive a signal in a variety of standards including NTSC, PAL or SECAM and HDTV formats in 1080p59.94, 1080p50, 1080i59.94, 1080i50, 720p59.94 or 720p50 and convert it to any other standard using state of the art motion compensated cross converters.
For playout customers STN uses a three tier play-out options (Bronze, Silver and Gold) all of which are industry established SD/HD channel playout systems with advanced graphics capabilities, each with its unique capability to tailor customers specific needs.
STN’s compression head end system is based on the latest series of SD/HD MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 AVC encoders with integrated multi-pass processing. The system provides world-class encoding performance.
Utilizing these latest technological advances STN delivers outstanding picture quality in MPEG-2 and MPEG-4. With STN there are no restrictions: 10-bit, 4:2:2, JPEG 2000 or 3DTV are all available today. UHDTV workflow at 4K is also supported by STN.
STN has implemented the new generation of system multiplexers. These robust devices combined with powerful stream processing constituted the heart of our MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 AVC SD and HD based broadcast system.
At STN we take great pride in the fact that each transmission chain is protected by spare/redundant units to ensure error-free no-single-point-of-failure operation.
STN has deployed a highly adapted monitoring package for our multi-channel environment. It provides detailed monitoring across the whole transmission process, from the origin of each individual signal to the final encoding for transmission and off-air monitoring. Comprehensive monitoring capabilities include freeze, black, silence, loudness, and macro-block detection. For additional secure monitoring STN uses analyzers for in-depth video and audio analysis and in-depth MPEG transport stream.
STN has also deployed Quality of Experience (QoE) monitoring across its entire network. The system operates as a high performance set-top-box probe bundled with STN’s network monitoring equipment (NMS), as well as with an unmatched multiviewer picture quality and superior on-screen graphics, for the most critical monitoring applications.
From one dashboard STN monitors its entire infrastructure including wired and wireless networks, systems and applications. From a single integrated platform, STN can seamlessly manage its IT infrastructure and thus rapidly resolve application performance and availability issues.
For RF signal characterization and troubleshooting and demanding spectrum management, STN deploys latest generation of spectrum analysers. Tests such as modulation degree, sideband amplitude, modulation quality, occupied bandwidth, intermodulation distortion, signal-to-noise ratio, etc. are all examples of STN's endeavour to provide each customer with the finest service possible.
